Summer is almost over, but instead of allowing regrets to overwhelm you, stay positive and think about the amazing things Fall will bring. The smartphones industry promises to bring at least 11 reasons to rejoice, with HTC and RIM being responsible for this autumn frenzy. This year was nothing short of sensational for HTC, who saw its sales soaring past 12 million units sold, a massive 25% increase compared to the last year’s first quarter. As a result, they plan on continuing the trend, by releasing no fewer than eight smartphones by the end of the year.
It is an impressive figure, and the most important thing is that all of these gadgets will be medium or high-end models. Most of their fans will be delighted by the prospect of purchasing even more advanced smartphones from HTC, but those who hoped for a budget smartphone have to wait for at least a couple of months. The Taiwanese manufacturer said nothing about low priced gadgets, so don’t set your hopes too high if you don’t want to see them plummeting down faster than a speeding bullet. One thing that interests all HTC users is how much will Sense influence the operating system, with opinions being divergent?
Less successful than HTC and despite experiencing significant losses in 2011, RIM announced three models for the 3rd quarter. The BlackBerry Bold 9900 and two Torch models, the 9810 and 9850 are going to be available worldwide, although on selected markets, users are already enjoying them. With more powerful processors, better and bigger displays and the same QWERTY keyboard, we grew to love, RIM’s devices hope to put an end to the company’s decline. Time will tell, which will be the impact, on the long run, but at least, for the moment, we are entitled to have high expectations for this Fall.
