Archos 80 G9 and 101 G9 Tablets

by Blake on November 22, 2011

It’s hard to believe that there is anyone waiting for the summer to end, just to get their hands on the twin tablets from Archos, but the company is very confident about their chances. Archos said a few months ago that we should expect a revolution from the 80 G9 and 101 G9, in terms of both performance and speed. The two tablets have been advertised as the fastest on the market and with prices ranging between $299 and $369, they should crush the competition. Now, the question everyone is asking is whether the G9s will meet their full potential, or will join the pack of tablets that came close but didn’t make it.

Archos 80 G9 and 101 G9The first impression is positive, as both the 80 G9 and 101 G9 will be running on Android 3.1, which would be quite amazing if the tablets were released now. It’s all fun and games until the Ice Cream Sandwich will become available somewhere later this autumn and will make Honeycomb feel obsolete. Unfortunately, there is no way around this and with so many months in the making, Archos had no alternative and will have to make the most of their 3.1 Android tablets in the first months.

With a dual-core OMAP 4 processor running at 1.5GHz and presented to be miles away from the Tegra 2TM, Archos says that the tablets will cut the load time in two and will amaze the user with its performance. The multimedia plays a central role on the 80 G9 and 101 G9, which are able to decode 1080p H264 High Profile videos. They will sport a 8 inch and 10.1 inch display and the tweaked apps for music and video promise to deliver a more cohesive experience for the user. Time is quickly running out and when the summer ends, Archos should make a bold move, to beat the odds stacked against them.
