You’ve probably heard before about myTouch 4G, and you are curious why are the guys at T-Mobile bragging so much about this release, which is not quite recent. The truth is that the carrier teamed up with HTC for a brand-new model which proudly inherits the name and legacy of the myTouch 4G, while adding the Slide notion. It is the direct result of the QWERTY keyboard addition, one that was destined to be the selling point together with the 8 Megapixel camera.
What really happens is that the keys are not as responsive as expected, and you won’t have the same grip as with the myTouch 3G Slide. Add to this that the backlight is only active in total darkness, and you’ll have to look elsewhere for reasons to buy the myTouch 4G Slide. The camera should be one of those, with 8 megapixels and thanks to the brilliant combination between powerful hardware and software, it will deliver some of the best pictures and videos ever seen on a smartphone. HTC did a great job in designing the new camera module and complemented it with a software that exceeds all the expectations.
Inside the myTouch 4G Slide, you’ll find a dual core 1.2 GHz CPU and 768MB of RAM, plenty of sensors and generous radio connectivity. It is very similar to what the Sensation owners are enjoying already, and that’s not a bad thing by any standards. It ships with the most-recent version of Gingerbread, the Android 2.3.4 and although the Sense is still very much present, its impact on the device is not as negative as one would suspect. For $200 on contract, the myTouch 4G Slide is a good choice for those who appreciate an excellent camera and can live with a less than stellar display and keyboard.
