Sony plans to turn things around this fall and following their marginal success with the Xperia line will push further with the twin tablets, known as S1 and S2. The names are less than inspired, but that’s not going to be a problem, given the elegant design and powerful hardware. The S1 sports a 9.4-inch display, while its little brother can brag about having two 5.5 inch screen, which are just as bright and offer decent viewing angles. The colors are rich, and the same quality pictures and movies can be enjoyed outdoors, with the only downside being Sony’s inability to minimize the bezel between the twin displays of the S2.
This being said, both tablets will run on the Android 3.0, which is particularly exciting in case of the S2, which is one of the few non-10 inch tablets running on Honeycomb. Sony tweaked it a bit, but it seems to be all for the best, as the Quick View will load photos before the Javascript, or the new algorithm that makes the touch panel more responsive. Both the S1 and S2 offer the same performance and can take on any competitor, when it comes to speed and responsiveness.
As with any Sony products, it is always important to know if the new release is PlayStation certified, because that would mean that the users will also gain access to a nice variety of games. With both the S1 and S2 meeting these expectations, the lucky buyers will be able to enjoy some familiar titles. Sony didn’t mention how much these two tablets will wind up costing, but they will probably be a bit less expensive than what the competition offers. As for the release date, even though it’s yet to be determined when the twin tablets will hit the shelves, all the clues point out to the end of September.
